Continuing with the Dark Side...
24 x 30cm, Oil on Panel
It's funny that I seem to go through such contrasting phases where my paintings are concerned.
For a long while, I painted mainly deep, dark paintings and then all of a sudden I felt desperate to turn on the light... That's about the time when I started painting marbles and other light and bright paintings.
But as I have explained in my bio, there are two sides to me and recently I am revisiting the dark side. That's not to say I'm in a dark place at all... Actually, despite having a difficult few months while struggling with a creative block, I am actually in a really good place again. I literally go to bed thinking about painting... I dream about painting and I wake up longing to paint.
Recently I finished the painting above, which to me is a very special one. It's special because it signifies a real turning point for me this year. It pulled me out of my block and sent me running for my brushes again.
I finished this maybe a couple of weeks ago and already I have a new painting well underway... It's another painting that embraces the contrast between light and dark... And I guess both should be embraced in equal measures, since we can not experience one, without the other.
I don't know how long it will be before the light starts calling again, but for now I am enjoying revisting my dark side. I hope you are enjoying it with me.
